On the Wings Of Armageddon: DC Brau
An appropriate name for a beer as we finish off 2020.
This is a local Imperial IPA and typically one of my favorites.
Again, I don’t usually drink this much beer. But this week, I’m cutting loose and having all the beer I want. Or, at least trying a lot of beers and not going too far with them.
This beer has a nice head that holds up after it has been in the glass for a few minutes. This one has been filtered and you can see stuff on the other side of the glass unlike a lot of the others ones I’ve been sampling lately.
I wrote about IBUs the other day and this one has 110. Which I think starts to explain the reason I call this one of my favorites.
Looking at the hops that make up this beer, it doesn’t have cascade hops, but it does have a nice crispness to it.
It is fairly dry as well. Which is something I like in a beer as well.
I love some of the New England IPAs, but after one or two of them, they can become too sweet or too fruity for me. I like my beer to be hop forward.
So, the nose of Wings is crisp and dry, just like the taste. I get the citrus, but not as much of the grapefruit as the DC Brau website would lead me to expect.
On the tongue, I do get some bread and biscuit. I like a light hint of bread and this cuts the hops down a bit, making the beer smooth.
For being 9.2%, it is very drinkable. From past experience, I know this one will sneak up on you.
I’ll toast y’all with this one and give this one a 90/100.
